Important Notes Before Booking
Before we jump into the location of the recycling centre, it’s worth running over some of the rules of booking an appointment. This will save you time and the hassle of a wasted trip.
The good news? All Edinburgh recycling centres run on a booking-only policy for vehicles.
Although this may sound strict, it is there to manage queues to save you time and stress when you need to go! Just remember to double-check online before you leave, as centres may close during extreme weather.
Some of the important rules to know before you book are:
- Only Edinburgh residents are allowed to use the sites, and you will need photographic ID to prove it.
- You must arrive with a valid booking and the correct vehicle registration. No booking or the wrong details means absolutely no entry.
- Want to enter on foot with small amounts of waste? Not a problem, and no booking necessary.
- If travelling in a trailer, van, or large vehicle, check the rules first. Not all vehicles are allowed access, and larger vehicles can only book at specific time slots.
- Appointments last 30 minutes. Arriving late might mean you can’t get in, and arriving early just means waiting.
- Staff are unable to help with unloading. Please make sure you can safely handle your items.
For the full list of rules and on-site behaviour during your site visit, please check out the Edinburgh Council website.
